Effective July 19, 2026
Honey Brook Baptist Church, also known as The Brook, respects the trust you place in us. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information through thebrookpa.com.
Information you choose to give us
Depending on what you do on the site, you may provide:
- Your name, email address, phone number, and message.
- Visit details, such as the service you plan to attend and children’s ages supplied by a parent or guardian.
- Event registration details, including the event, number attending, and comments.
- Prayer requests and whether you want a request considered for the public prayer wall.
- Missionary encouragement messages or questions that you ask us to pass along.
- Giving details, including your name, email, amount, fund or purpose, and whether a gift is recurring.
- Next Step requests, such as interest in following Jesus, baptism, membership, groups, serving, or speaking with a pastor.
Please share only what you are comfortable sending online. Website forms are not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies. Call 911 for an immediate emergency.
Prayer requests and the prayer wall
Prayer requests are private by default. A private copy may be stored in our website inbox and emailed to the church team so we can pray and respond. If you check the option to share a request on the prayer wall, your first name and request are saved separately for review. Nothing is posted publicly until an authorized team member approves it.
Before approval, our team may shorten or reword a request to protect private details. When an authorized team member chooses the optional rewording tool in Studio, the request text is sent to Anthropic to suggest a privacy-focused rewrite. This is not automatic, and a church team member reviews the result. Your email address and phone number are never placed on the public prayer wall.
An approved prayer-wall post is visible to anyone and may be found by search engines. To ask us to remove one, email wearethebrook@gmail.com or call 610-273-2019.
Online giving
Card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay gifts are processed by Square. Payment-card numbers and wallet credentials are sent directly to Square through its payment tools and do not pass through or remain on The Brook’s servers. We receive a secure payment token and transaction result. Square receives the information needed to process the gift, prevent fraud, issue its receipt, and manage a recurring gift when selected.
We use the giver’s name, email address, amount, purpose, recurrence choice, and transaction reference to process the gift, send a church receipt through Resend, answer questions, and maintain financial and legal records. Venmo gifts are completed through Venmo and are also governed by Venmo’s privacy practices.
Our Manage My Giving page can email a short-lived private link to the address already connected to a Square giving record. The link is used to display limited receipt information and to send requested monthly-gift changes directly to Square. It expires after 30 minutes, is kept out of the page’s server request and browser history, and should not be forwarded. The page does not display or store card numbers.
Information collected when you visit
Our hosting and analytics services may receive technical and usage information such as the page visited, date and time, referring page, browser, device type, operating system, general location, and IP address used to connect. We use this information to operate the site, protect it from misuse, fix problems, and understand which pages are helpful. The site also uses short-lived request records and server safeguards to limit repeated form, prayer, notification, and private-link requests from the same network address.
Google Analytics may use first-party cookies or similar identifiers for measurement. We have disabled Google’s advertising features and advertising-personalization signals in the website tag. Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregated traffic information designed not to identify or re-identify individual visitors.
Maps, videos, fonts, and outside links
The site includes services from other companies, including Google Maps, YouTube, Google Fonts, CARTO map tiles, podcast platforms, social networks, Square, and Venmo. Loading or using these features may send the page URL, IP address, device information, cookies, or interaction information to that provider. A link that takes you to another website is governed by that website’s own privacy policy.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Respond to messages, plan visits, register people for events, help with requested Next Steps, and pass along missionary encouragement.
- Pray for submitted needs and, only when requested and approved, publish a limited prayer-wall version.
- Process gifts, set up requested recurring gifts, deliver receipts, and maintain appropriate financial records.
- Send church updates when someone asks to receive them.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
- Meet legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of the church, our visitors, and others.
Who receives information
Authorized church staff and ministry volunteers receive information when they need it for the purposes above. We also use service providers to operate the website:
- Supabase for database, authentication, and media storage.
- Vercel for hosting, security logs, and web analytics.
- Resend for transactional emails and receipts.
- Square and Venmo for giving.
- Google for analytics, maps, fonts, and YouTube features.
- Anthropic only when an authorized team member uses the optional prayer-request rewording tool.
- Formspree if a missionary or registration form is configured to use that service.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to prevent fraud or harm, or with your direction or consent. We do not sell or rent personal information.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the ministry, operational, security, financial, and legal purposes described here. Retention can vary by type of record. Donation and financial records may be kept longer when accounting or legal rules require it. We may delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including restricted Studio access and established payment providers. No website, email, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please do not submit highly sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
Children’s information
We ask parents and guardians, rather than children, to submit personal information through the website. A parent or guardian may provide a child’s age so we can prepare an appropriate class or childcare room. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information without a parent or guardian’s permission, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Your choices
You may ask what personal information we have about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it by contacting us. We will respond reasonably and may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal, financial, safety, or fraud-prevention reasons.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser. You may also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies or third-party content may affect maps, videos, giving, or other site features.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website or our practices change. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date at the top.
